12/01/09 - So You Think You Can Dance - Season 6 : Week 6 – I'm a bit late with the posting here, but we did get to watch week 6 about an hour before the results show (so no voting for us this week; however, those we would have called for were safe - woohoo!). This week certainly wasn't as spectacular as the prior but I am at least narrowed down my final 4. I'd like to see Legacy, Russell, Kathryn, and either Ashleigh or Ellenore in the final. I certainly feel Jakob is one of the most talented guys; however, I don't think he is as interesting as Legacy or Russell. As for Mollee...I hope she is gone next week ;).

12/08/09 - So You Think You Can Dance - Season 6 : Week 7 – This week is tough...it sounds like next week is the final (which is weird...they usually have a top 6) and that means I have to watch two people get eliminated. For the girls it seems a bit easier....I'm certainly ready for Mollee to go and Ashleigh's injury makes her an easy target. This means Kathryn, my fave, and Ellenore (a top notch dancer) will be in the final four. For the guys I feel Jakob deserves to make it to the top 4 based on simple skill - and then my personal favorite is Russell - and Russell brought his own brand of skill this week (except for the solo - that was ridiculous). The following are our predictions for tomorrow's elimination...

12/08/09 - Lights, Camera, Festive! – Susan and I are officially decorated at the old homestead. It was downright cold but we got the lights up on the house (our traditional cool blue and calming green). The inside is also complete and ready for next weekends Cat's Meow Christmas party. Sometimes this week we will head out to the park in Benbrook for some holiday cheer and hot chocolate (apparently a nightly event through the end of this month). Merry Christmas everyone!
12/15/09 - So You Think You Can Dance - Season 6 : Week 8 – Tonight's part one of the finale was awesome! Just about everyone earned a three-star (check) performance from me and Susan. When all was said and done we really felt anyone could win; however, our personal bets were on Kathryn and Jakob.
I will admit, prior to Russell winning, I had no problems with him taking first place; however, after his lackluster injury (that he somehow celebrated on) and his very peculiar celebration at the end, I'm kind of wishing he had not taken the grand prize. It kind of makes you wonder....was he hiding his aggressive personality behind a passive performance the entire season - or does winning 250K just make someone a little crazy? I guess we'll find out for sure during the top-10 performance show next year.
Overall this season shaped up to be much better than it started. At first I thought it was a little slow with nobody really shining as a dancer. Fortunately, after the first 10 were eliminated, the starts finally started to shine. So when does Season 7 start?

12/15/09 - So Much Wine - So Little Time – I've participated in some fairly interesting wine tastings over the years; however, never have I been involved in one so large. Grand Cru of Fort Worth held their first anniversary "Bubbles and Big Reds" wine tasting Tuesday night. In addition to some awesome food catered by Guynell there were also a few wines to sample. Well....maybe more than a few.
Overall there were 56 wines available to taste of the course of 3 hours. I showed up early and started as soon as I was handed a wine glass. I was certainly up to the challenge of actually tasting 56 wines, taking notes, and figuring out which ones I liked and disliked; however, I definitely wasn't sure I would be able to finish. It takes time to inspect the wine, smell the bouquet, and analyze the taste of each offering - I didn't want to rush things. Fortunately, it all worked out and I finished mere minutes before the event completed.
I had a blast at this event (too bad Susan had to show up late - she missed some interesting stuff; however, fortunately I was able to point her toward a few highlights). The food was delicious and I found lots of new wines I enjoyed (and reaffirmed my passion for a few exiting favorites). Now the following table will likely only interest a select few - but I do want to go ahead and provide if not only for my personal future reference :). 1 star means I enjoyed it and 2 starts means I really enjoyed the wine. 1 X means I didn't really like the wine or dislike the wine; however, 2 X's means I definitely disliked the wine (of course, obviously, all my personal opinions).
Oh, and to answer the burning question - yes, I remainder sober. There was a lot of dumping (despite how much I scorn the act) involved.
