OCTOBER 2009

10/09/09 - Facebook – Facebook is awesome!  It has a simple interface that allows me to quickly update my friends about what is going on in my life.  I can post status updates from my phone, upload pictures in a snap, and even link these longer diary entries with Facebook itself.  Of course, the downside, is that since I can post so many micro-updates on Facebook I really haven't felt the urge to post a true diary entry over here.  Bad Nathan - no biscuit (or wine wafer I suppose).

In addition, truth be told, we haven't really participated in any substantial events since our California trip in August (I know, no excuse...I can usually dig up something pointless to blog about).  We've been to some great dinners at friend's houses and also been to a few parties (one was a wine party last weekend - a blast, for sure).  Karaoke night comes to mind....and I kind of wish it wouldn't.

Fortunately, we do have a few things coming up that are going to be diary worthy.  The first, of course, is season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance (I know, those entries are cheating - unless you happen to like the show).  The second is definitely more substantial - we're landscaping our backyard.  By "we" I actually mean we've hired someone to do the work for us - unfortunately our skill doesn't meet the ambition of what we actually desire in a landscape.  Some of the plans include a pergola, a pond with waterfall, and a flagstone path through the backyard.  Of course, we're also planting several trees, shrubs, and color.  The project, assuming it ever stops raining, will take about 2 months to complete.  As such, I thought it would be a good idea to post several photographs along the way in order to show the progress.

In addition, for our followers without Facebook, I'm adding some code to the bottom bar that will allow anyone to see what is posted on our Facebook profiles.  It should, when clicked, open a separate window showing some of the most recent content from our Facebook pages.
